About 10 persons, including drivers of the two trucks, their assistants and workers at the filling were lucky to escape death by the whiskers.
It was learnt that the incident which caught the workers unawares started around 1:30pm.
A source within the station who does not want his name in the print told our correspondent that the drivers and the assistants were dropping fuel in the fuel dump when the tankers burst into flames.
He disclosed that he did not know what caused the fire outbreak but said they had to run away from the filling station when the flames became uncontrollable.
Men of the 323 Artillery Brigade were seen cordoning off the area of the incident to prevent the break of law and order.
Also, fire service personnel were seeing at the scene trying to put out the fire.
As the fire service personnel were pouring water, the more the some of the fire from the fuel dump billowed, forcing them to retreat and approach the fire from different angles, while sympathisers were helping them to fetch water from nearby houses.
