The wife of the President Mrs Aisha Buhari has appealed to the
organized private sector and well meaning Nigerians to come to the aide of IDP’s in Borno state and
other states affected to relocate home after spending two to three
years in the camps.
Mrs Buhari said “to a lot of them its like starting life all
over again and the little assistance from good natured citizens will go a long way in helping them to settle
down and start life afresh” , speaking further Her Excellency said she had
already spoken to five companies and eight truckloads of food had been made
available so far.
The wife of the president was speaking while receiving a
delegation of four women who recently climbed the highest mountain in Africa, Mount
Kilamanjaro in aid of raising funds for the IDP’S .
Mrs Buhari noted that the intervention of the private was a
way of discharging their corporate social responsibility to the society and a
path to nation building.
The four women, which include the wife of the governor of
Ogun State Mrs Funso Amosun, Remi Abere, Uzo Nwani and Debo Laditan spent ten
days in climbing and descending the mountain as a way of raising funds for the
IDP’S
The gesture was initiated by one of the climbers Remi Abere who said it was her way of giving back to
humanity on her 50th birthday to
raise awareness on the plight of the displaced persons .
