The suspected sex fiend wanted for a spree of three attacks
in three hours Thursday morning across Lower Manhattan is in custody,
authorities said Saturday.
Robert Bowie, 20, was arrested around 1 a.m. Saturday on a slew of charges including rape, robbery and burglary.
Bowie's alleged rampage culminated in the brutal rape of a
40-year-old woman inside her apartment near the FDR Drive around 8:45
a.m. Thursday, Police said.
He emerged from the building's stairwell and tried to
strike up a conversation with the woman outside her door before grabbing
her and forcing his way into her apartment, Cops said. He then
allegedly raped her.
The vicious attack came roughly three hours after Bowie
trailed a 33-year-old woman into her James Street building, grabbed her
and tried to rape and rob her, authorities said. The gutsy woman fought
back and her assailant ran off.
Then, around 7:40 a.m., Bowie accosted a 24-year-old woman inside her Broome Street building, according to police.
He grabbed her by the shoulders and snatched her ID, but lit out when she screamed for help, cops said.
The rape victim was treated at a local hospital and released.
